Healing Sanctuary Progress

Hi Friends - thank you for checking in! I am so thrilled to share that we have made great progress and are nearing completion of all major Phase 1 projects — thanks to the many generous contributions received through our fundraiser. We have our yurt, labyrinth, fire pit, and a good portion of the walking paths in place.

To learn more about the project and see all the work in action, check out the videos below. Here are some projects that we will be focused on going forward and would love your support with:

  • Wildfire Risk Reduction - I have been working with experts in the field to map out a strategy for clearing more parts of the land to minimize fire risk. This is a big project because the majority of the land is inaccessible by machinery so will involve a great deal of human power.

  • Protecting & Planting Trees - The oaks in this area are being destroyed by the golden spotted oak borer beetle. Last year, we had to cut down 27 dead trees as part of making the grounds safe. Already, two more trees have died over the course of just one year. This project will aim to protect the oaks and replant new trees that are resistant to the beetle.

  • Enhancing Yurt Area - The yurt is beautiful and provides an amazingly powerful container for ceremony! The area around it needs some enhancement as it is all dirt, which gets messy with any wet weather conditions. My hope is to place an entryway and rock tiles around the door and pea gravel around the sides.

  • Creating Community Areas - Much of the land is very sloped as it’s on a hillside, so sitting in community can be a bit tricky. My dream is to provide more areas for individuals to connect and congregate. This will include putting benches around the property, placing hammocks in a nice shady spot, and creating a picnic area.
